Outdoor Activities in Castleton

Castleton is an ideal centre for outdoor activities. The walking from the village around the Hope Valley is superb, with numerous options ranging from short easy walks to longer walks including the nearby Pennine Way.

There is some rock climbing on the flanks of Kinder Scout in nearby Edale, and the famous gritstone edges of Stanage, Froggatt, Millstone (and many others) are only a few miles away.

Mountain biking is a popular local sport with several excellent circuits leading directly from Castleton village. The area around Mam Tor is the leading hang-gliding centre in the Peak District.

Caving and pot holing is a minority sport which is popular in this area which is riddled with cave systems.

Hollowford Outdoor Centre offers courses in climbing, pot-holing, cycling and canoeing.
